Drew Griffith, a junior at Butler Area Senior High, not only captured the Champs Sports Northeast Regional title Nov. 26 at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx, N.Y., but he also led a group of five Pennsylvania competitors that qualified to race Dec. 10 at the Champs Sports Cross Country Championships at Balboa Park's Morley Field in San Diego, Calif. Griffith, who covered the 5-kilometer course in 15:20.9, improved from 22nd at the regional meet last year to become the first athlete from his school to qualify for the national final.
